Brandelyn has now claimed permanent residence in Oakland where she works as a professional writer. After earning her Associate of Arts Degree from Citrus College in Glendora, CA, Brandelyn attended The University of California, Berkeley, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.
Brandelyn is a professional writer, having published three books, Everybody Plays the Fool, a novel; Spoken Silence: Life in Four Parts, a volume of poetry; and her latest novel U.G.L.Y. Brandelyn has a forthcoming book of poetry entitled Dreams are not concerned scheduled to be released in April 2011. She is also a contributing author in the Gumbo for the Soul Anthology, a literary project that was created to raise funds to support literacy programs for high school students in the Bay Area, as well as the “When I was There…” UC Berkeley Anthology project. Brandelyn currently writes for Empress, Leather and Vapors magazine and is a frequent contributor to the Young Writers Block Literary community.
Brandelyn has been the recipient of several awards including the Crothers Prize for Literary Composition, The SMASH Community Service Hero award and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Community Service Award for her work with Oakland High School students. Brandelyn is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and continues to participate in various community service programs throughout the Bay Area.
