Brandelyn is a professional writer, having published four books, Everybody Plays the Fool, a novel; Spoken Silence: Life in Four Parts, a volume of poetry; and her latest novel U.G.L.Y.  Brandelyn released her fourth book, dreams are not concerned, a volume of poetry in June 2011. She is also a contributing author in the Gumbo for the Soul Anthology, a literary project that was created to raise funds to support literacy programs for high school students in the Bay Area, as well as the “When I was There…” UC Berkeley Anthology project. Brandelyn is also a contributor to the Young Writers Block Literary community.


Brandelyn has been the recipient of several awards including the Crothers Prize for Literary Composition, The SMASH Community Service Hero award and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Community Service Award for her work with Oakland High School students. Brandelyn is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and continues to participate in various community service programs. Brandelyn currently resides in Washington, DC where she is working on her new novel.
