Let the Games Begin...
This weekend taught me a lot. This weekend was the kick off the amazingness we know as Cal Football season. If you know me at all, you know my smack talking started months ago and became even more serious with the W added to the Cal Football Schedule, Go Bears. One thing I did learn though was that I am way too old actually attend games. While I have an outfit that I have created that is pure foolery and can only be fully appreciated amongst other hardcore Cal Football fans, the fact of the matter is that standing up, in the sun, wearing thick striped Cal socks, because honestly, the outfit wouldn’t be complete without the socks, screaming at the top of my lungs for four hours was cute in undergrad, now, not so much. Today is Tuesday and I am still recovering from the foolery. I like to think I did my part in keeping my team amped and focused, but honestly, my whole life is still drained. But, as any true blue fan knows, sometimes you just have to take one for the team. But I can honestly say that the thrill of actually attending games is gone. I will be at home, fully decked out in my Go Bears gear, watching from the comfort of my living room, drinking wine and indulging on pizza because that is how we get down. Go Bears. Please be prepared for many updates and stories and plenty of Smack Talking...*BeccaAnne, you know I love you...but I’ll talk to you in February...LOL!!! Let the games begin....

What happened to us? We started out on fire! I was so sure that this would be the year. But it was not to be. When Longshore went down, it was the first moment toward a slow, long, and arduous death. To make matters worse, one of my good friends is an ex-USC football star and local legend from El Cerrito High. Watching the game with him was painful to say the least. I even had my sons decked out from head to toe in their Cal gear. It was pretty bad.
